I have some exciting news…..I’ve lost 7kg so far. Yay! I know this isn’t a lot, and it’s also taken me a really long time to do it, but I’m getting there. That’s the most important thing.
I was really happy yesterday, because I had to go to the doctor for some medication and that’s where I found out about my weight loss. They do the usual blood pressure checks, etc. and you also have to get yourself weighed. I always dread this part, because in the past my weight has always hovered around the same mark and I always tell the doctor or nurse that I’m intending to lose weight and I never do. Well, yesterday was different. I hopped on the scale and had my fingers crossed for a “not too horrible” result. To my surprise, the needle quivered for a little while before finally settling on 86kg. The nurse nodded approvingly and even commented on my weight loss. I probably didn’t hear most of what she was saying as jubilant cheers were resounding in my head!
I’m finally in the frame of mind where I WANT to eat healthy and exercise more. I find that I like the way my clothes are starting to fit me and I want to keep it that way. So, even if I’m not necessarily in the mood to go to they gym, I make myself go and am always happy that I went. My hard work is really starting to pay off and I’m getting results, which are spurring me on even more. Don’t get me wrong though, I have good weeks and bad weeks, but I’m working on it and am improving all the time.
Running is also starting to get strangely addictive. I’ve been keeping my eye out for more runs to do and have signed up for the Adidas 5K Women’s Challenge in September and also the Run Richmond Park 5K in October. I’m not quite sure if I’m ready for another 10K just yet, but after the British 10K, I know I can do it.
I’m definitely pointed in the right direction. There are a couple of things that still need tweaking, but that’ll come with time. In the meantime, I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing.
