Things I have in common with my Cat!

Recently my boyfriend, Greg, remarked that Puddy (our cat) was the feline version of me, which made me think a little bit….

1. We are both SUPER grumpy in the morning and should not be messed with! This is the face that’ll greet you in the morning….

2. We both love to snooze! There’s nothing like a good snooze….

 3. We both have a pretty short fuse at times. When you see this look, you know it’s pretty close to Ka-Blam time! 😉

4. We like a little tanning now and then, but we try to look after our sensitive skin…

5. We like a little quiet time every now and then. It’s nothing personal, but we just need a time out sometimes, so just let us do our thing…

6. We are nosey. It’ll never change. We just like to know what’s going on in the world! 😉

7. We like getting our way. Some people find it a little annoying, but we happen to think it’s a more endearing quality. We know what we want in life and we take it! 😉

8.  We both have a rather ample posterior….but some people like that! 😉

9. Sometimes we feel a little defeated and end up feeling very sorry for ourselves…

10. Sometimes we get knocked flat on our backs, but we always get back up….

11. Occasionally, we like to leave our inhibitions behind…..only occasionally though! 😉

12. We’re both a little SVELTE, but that appeals to some. Not everyone can be stick thin! 😉

Well, it seems that we do have quite a bit in common. Except that tomorrow morning at 6am, I’ll have to wake up to go to work, and Puddy will be getting ready for her first early morning snooze! Oh what a life…..

But despite our flaws, we’ve both managed to snag pretty eligible men! (There’s currently a boy cat – who we’re calling Howard Wolowitz in honour of his persistence – after our Puddy!) It turns out that they like us for who we are; not what we look like and despite some of the mood swings we might have sometimes.

We’re very lucky ladies! (Although Puddy looks particularly grumpy in this pic!)

REMEMBER THAT NO MATTER WHAT’S GOING ON, THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BE GRATEFUL FOR!

Happiness Is…..

Having my boyfriend, Greg, back after 2 weeks on my lonesome! YAY!!  🙂

Greg & I...

Greg went home to visit friends and family back in South Africa, but unfortunately I couldn’t tag along……no cash & not enough leave from work. It was really horrible without him at home, and on various occasions I actually found myself discussing my day with our cat, Puddy. She didn’t seem to care, as long as I ended up giving her lots of head scratches! (Yes, I’m aware that I sound like a crazy cat lady….) As you can see from the picture below, as long as she’s happy and comfortable nothing else matters!

Puddy having an afternoon snooze! 🙂

Whilst Greg was away, I also got a really bad cold and ended up self-medicating and prostrate on the sofa. I felt terribly sorry for myself, because when I get a cold, I don’t just get a cold, I get “man-flu” and Greg normally takes care of my every need. Now, I had to make my own soup and tuck myself in. Trust me, being alone and sick really sucks!

Well, the 2 weeks dragged on, but yesterday morning he finally got home. It’s so great having him back & we spent a lazy day drinking loads of coffee, watching old movies and just catching up. I even made my very first Apple Crumble which turned out amazing (tooting my own horn a little!). I’m clearly turning into some kind of domestic Goddess! 😉

Puddy & Greg chillaxing!

To me, happiness is lounging on the couch with my fat kitty & my wonderful boyfriend. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder!

Me with a very grumpy looking Puddy 🙂

So, what’s happiness to you?

What a lazy weekend…

It’s probably just my imagination, but I feel as though I’ve been really busy of late. Mainly just work wise, but I’ve been feeling like I need a holiday or something. So I took this weekend to do just that!

I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I gave gym a skip this weekend. Honestly, I don’t even feel guilty about it. I’ve been going loads and my training is on track for my 5km on March 20th. I’m actually starting to really enjoy going to the gym. I honestly thought I’d never say that, but there it is. My gym sessions aren’t too long or too short. I’m not pushing myself too hard to the point of exhaustion, but instead I’m gradually trying to build up my fitness. Last Thursday, I ran on the treadmill for 30mins (although I did a couple of minutes walking throughout), and I loved it! I’m getting back into the swing of things this week, so it’s all good. 🙂

I just needed a weekend to veg out! My lovely boyfriend did treat me to dinner on Saturday which was lovely, but apart from that, I didn’t leave the house and it was wonderful! I basically spent the weekend on the couch with Puddy (the cat) , watching movies and documentaries. Here are some pics of us doing just that:

It really was a great weekend. Just what I needed. The batteries are charged & I’m ready for another week! I hope everybody else had a fun weekend too…….xxx

Things I’m grateful for.

A friend recently pointed out that as much as she loves reading my blog, there seems to be a lot of negativity that I write about. At first I was a bit surprised, but after giving it some thought – and as much as I hate to admit it! – she’s right.

So, I’m going to start with little steps and work my way up. By the way, these are in no particular order…… 😉

I am grateful for so many things in my life, but am guilty of not reminding myself of them each day. I really should try harder.

So, what am I grateful for?

1. MY FAMILY

We are close in a very non-obvious way. 😉 I miss them terribly, and   talking to them on Skype at the weekends doesn’t really cut it. I miss my Dad’s wisdom, my Mom’s infinite patience and my annoying brother who’ll never admit he actually kinda likes me. I am who I am because of them. There’s no “thank you” that can ever convey that enough.

2. GREG

I love this man more than anything. And after all the crap he puts up with from me, he’ll still give me a hug, a kiss and make me smile. He makes me laugh more than anybody I’ve ever met. No words. As the Beatles to eloquently put it…”All you need is love.” 🙂

3. MY AMAZING FRIENDS

I don’t have many friends, but those who are my friends, mean the world to me. I can’t think of anything I’ve ever gone through in my life without their constant support and understanding. I know all I need to do is pick up a phone and they’ll be there for me. What more could a girl ask for?

4.  BEING ABLE

There are many days when I genuinely feel sorry for myself. I hate having those days, because they seem so silly in the grand scheme of things. I am able to do anything I want, in the sense that I’m not held back by any physical or mental disability. I should be more grateful and aware of this everyday.

5. MY SENSE OF HUMOUR

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the regular “funny guy”, but I have a very weird and dark sense of humour. Very few a privy to this dark side, but I know I can make people laugh. I don’t take myself too seriously and I can give just as good as I get. Laughter is the spice of life, isn’t it?

6. PUDDY

For those not in the know, Greg and I have the most beautiful kitty kat.We named her Puddy, which is short for Pudding, because she has a rather junoesque physique and therefore looks like she’s scoffed her face full of puddings and pie. I love going home to her every single day. She’s a little crazy, but I like it that way. She makes me so happy (even when I get woken up at 4am for scratches)!

7. A JOB

I know this seems a bit silly, but almost every time I open a newspaper, I read a story about current levels of unemployment. I am just so grateful just to have a job (although it’s not my dream job), so that I can afford a roof over my head and dinner to put on the table.

8.  MUSIC

I don’t listen to music the way most people do. At least, I don’t think that I do. You want to understand me? Listen to the music I listen to. It cheers you up, it gets you down, it takes your across the rainbow of feelings. It’s more important than people think. I love listening to music – all kinds – but really listening to it. With your heart and with your soul. What other way is there?

9. BOOKS

Again, a bit of a weird one. How can I explain? When I walk into someone’s house and look at their bookshelf, it tells me the kind of person they are. I love that. I love that I can get completely immersed in a book and some will even stay with me forever. I love my imagination when I read a good book. It knows no bounds. My Dad taught me the importance of reading and it’s one of the best lessons I ever learned.

10. ME

There are a lot of things that I want to change about myself. My weight -which is the reason for starting this blog – being one of the main things at the moment. I’m impatient, stubborn, have no willpower, etc. However, I like that I’m the kind of person who sticks to what I believe in. I have my own set of morals and values which I believe are right for me. I know that I will never falter from them and they are what define me.

Well, that’s all that my heart and my brain can handle for today. I hope I’ve made my friend proud…..you know who you are! 😉

Now, what are you grateful for??
